Responsibilities:
- Identify, establish, and manage collaborative relationships with scientific leaders and investigators to address scientific needs and ensure access to medical/scientific information on therapeutic interests and company data/products.
- Conduct peer-level scientific discussions; maintain reliable presence so scientific leaders have an R&D/Medical Affairs contact.
- Engage in proactive non-product scientific discussions (disease states, diagnosis, epidemiology, unmet need, population health) to inform R&D/GMA and Human Health strategies.
- Facilitate scientific information exchange, integrating knowledge into actionable insights for strategy.
- Communicate external stakeholder insights/feedback on new data and clinical trends to Medical Affairs HQ to inform internal R&D.
- Represent R&D at scientific meetings; contribute to debriefs, insight discussions, and post-congress reports.
- Develop and execute territory plans aligned with global Virology strategy.
- Support data generation/investigator-initiated research (including MISP) as primary liaison to investigators.
- Identify potential investigators for phase II-IV clinical programs and provide scientific support for R&D-sponsored trials.
- Provide in-depth scientific support to Health Systems Teams within USMA.
- Maintain deep disease/therapeutic area knowledge via education (conferences, workshops, key journal review).
- Comply with company policies, applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
Qualifications (Required):
- Advanced degree (MD, PhD, DNP, Doctoral PA-C, DO, or PharmD) in Virology/HIV.
- 3+ years biotech/pharmaceutical or clinical experience.
- 3+ years clinical and/or research experience (beyond terminal degree) in Virology/HIV (or related areas) with demonstrated scientific excellence.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, networking, and presentation skills.
- Ability to travel up to 50% overnight and reside in the coverage region.
Qualifications (Preferred):
- Sustained HIV scientific excellence (clinical/academic/translational/basic science).
- Experience in clinical HIV and independent research/publication (late-stage or outcomes research; company-sponsored or investigator-initiated trials).
- 5+ years pharmaceutical industry experience (MSL or other clinical/medical/research role) in Virology/HIV.
- Prior coverage-region experience and established stakeholder relationships.
- Leadership skills; ability to address challenges within scope.
- Strong Microsoft Office Suite knowledge.
