Virology (HIV) Community MSL / Regional Medical Scientific Associate Director - West Region

Responsibilities:
- Work in Medical Affairs to identify, establish, and manage relationships with community scientific leaders (SLs) and healthcare providers.
- Conduct peer-level scientific discussions and maintain presence so SLs have a Medical Affairs contact.
- Engage in proactive non-product discussions on scientific issues to understand prevention gaps, disparities, and barriers to uptake.
- Facilitate scientific exchange with SLs and translate insights to support R&D strategy.
- Communicate external stakeholder feedback on new data and HIV treatment/prevention trends to Medical Affairs HQ.
- Represent R&D at scientific meetings to capture insights and contribute to debriefs/reports.
- Develop and execute territory plans aligned with global Virology strategy.
- Support requested data generation (e.g., Investigator Study Program/MISP).
- Identify investigators for phase IIβIV programs and support R&D-sponsored trials.
- Maintain in-depth disease/therapeutic area knowledge through educational efforts.
Qualifications:
Required:
- PhD, PharmD, NP/PA (or doctorate) relevant to Virology.
- 3+ years biotech/pharma or healthcare experience; 3+ years clinical and/or research experience in Virology/HIV.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, networking, and presentation skills.
- Travel up to 50% overnight; reside in coverage region.
- Therapeutic competency in Virology; ability to network with external leaders/providers.
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex data; knowledge of treatment guidelines, clinical research processes, FDA and ethical/regulatory requirements (e.g., OIG, HIPAA).
- Ability to organize/prioritize in a changing environment.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of unmet needs/implementation barriers in community-based/non-medical spaces.
- Experience in coverage region with established HIV prevention stakeholder relationships.
- Leadership skills; Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Reside within the West coverage region.
