Virology (HIV) Community MSL / Regional Medical Scientific Director (Remote; Midwest Region: IL, MO, KS, NE, IA, MI, MN, WI, IN, ND, SD)
Responsibilities
- Identify, establish, and manage collaborative relationships with community-based scientific leaders and healthcare providers.
- Conduct peer-level scientific discussions; maintain a reliable Medical Affairs contact presence.
- Engage in proactive non-product discussions on scientific issues to understand prevention gaps, disparities, and barriers to uptake.
- Facilitate scientific information exchange to translate knowledge into actionable insights for research, development, and strategy.
- Share external stakeholder feedback on new data, clinical trends, and the evolving HIV treatment/prevention landscape with Medical Affairs HQ.
- Represent R&D at scientific meetings/congresses; contribute to debriefs and post-congress reports.
- Develop and execute territory plans aligned with global Virology strategy.
- Support requested data generation activities (e.g., Investigator Study Program/MISP).
- Identify potential investigators for Phase IIβIV programs and support R&D-sponsored trials.
- Maintain in-depth disease/therapeutic area knowledge through educational efforts.
Qualifications
Required
- PhD, PharmD, NP/PA, or doctorate degree relevant to Virology.
- 3+ years biotech/pharma or healthcare experience.
- 3+ years clinical and/or research experience in Virology/HIV or related area.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, networking, and presentation skills.
- Ability to travel (up to 50% overnight) and reside in the coverage region.
- Deep therapeutic competency; ability to interpret complex data objectively.
- Knowledge of treatment guidelines, clinical research processes, FDA regulations, and ethical requirements (e.g., OIG, HIPAA).
- Ability to organize/prioritize in a changing environment.
Preferred
- Experience with priority-population unmet needs and community/non-medical implementation barriers.
- Prior regional experience and established HIV community stakeholder relationships (prevention).
- Leadership skills; Microsoft Office Suite.
