Responsibilities
- Lead the Medical Affairs function at Alumis.
- Develop and implement Medical Affairs strategies and activities to support development of lead assets.
- Build and scale the Medical Affairs organization.
- Develop and present Medical Affairs operational plans to Development and Executive management.
- Represent the company externally.
- Direct and oversee Medical Affairs and pre-launch needs.
- Lead medical launch preparations for the lead psoriasis candidate (envudeucitinib), ensuring a robust, well-vetted scientific narrative.
- Build and lead a best-in-class global medical affairs team supporting launches of multiple indications (psoriasis focus).
- Develop KPIs and generate analytical reports related to Medical Affairs plans and Medical Science Liaison activities.
- Develop and implement Medical Communication and Disease State Awareness strategies.
- Partner with KOLs to gather therapeutic area insights.
- Collaborate with Commercial to develop medically accurate provider/patient educational materials.
- Provide direction/input into reimbursement and market-access strategies.
- Work with clinical development and commercial leadership to set strategic direction, evaluate alternatives, identify competitive issues, and implement operating plans.
- Foster relationships with academic/clinical experts, publishers, medical/patient associations, and other stakeholders.
- Develop and manage departmental budgets.
- Oversee publication strategy (major congresses and high-impact peer-reviewed journals).
Qualifications/Skills
- 10+ years in Biotech/Pharma Medical Affairs.
- 5+ years people leadership experience.
- Knowledge of government/industry guidelines for scientific/medical exchange.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, develop talent, and build collaborative partnerships.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple complex projects in a compliance-driven environment.
- Proven matrix leadership and external relationship building with KOLs.
- Strong communication skills at all levels.
- Travel 25–40%.
- HQ presence in the San Francisco Bay Area required.
- Extensive dermatology experience (psoriasis required); SLE experience highly desirable; experience taking a Phase 3 product to a successful launch highly desirable.
- Advanced degree (PharmD, Ph.D., or MD) required; MD preferred.
