Key Responsibilities
- Create deep functional bench strength by identifying, attracting, and developing a best-in-class Clinical Development & Medical Affairs team; provide coaching/training for technical and leadership skills and succession planning; foster an inclusive, high-performance environment.
- Drive the therapeutic area growth agenda by aligning resources with regional and global priorities and relevant global franchises (with other functions and Corporate/HQ groups).
- Develop cross-functional medical strategy aligned with and supportive of commercial strategy; partner with Commercial to provide strategic medical insights shaping portfolio strategy.
- Own key interfaces with relevant global franchise teams, including support of therapeutic area business plans; align on patient-centric product/services strategies; facilitate best-practice sharing and two-way feedback; provide regional input into pre-launch/launch; inform US organization of initiatives/outcomes; provide input on resource allocation and talent development.
- Partner with Global Development to set strategic direction for Clinical Development & Medical Affairs across development and lifecycle management; provide US perspective on global clinical development plans.
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor’s/equivalent (4-year); doctorate level degree (MD, PharmD, or PhD in Biological Sciences or related).
- 12+ years progressively senior experience in clinical development or medical affairs (pharma/biotech/academic).
- 5+ years people management/team leadership experience (managing/developing senior medical talent preferred).
- 3+ years experience in immunology/respiratory area in pharma.
- Deep US healthcare landscape understanding (payor dynamics, access pathways, healthcare trends), including “good promotional practices” (PhRMA/OIG/ABPI) and independent medical education (ACCME).
- Strong clinical research experience (protocol development, trial operations, patient recruitment).
- Health economics, outcomes research, and real-world evidence expertise.
- Enterprise-level influence across US and Global organizations.
Desirable Requirements
- Medical degree with Board Certification in relevant specialty.
- Experience presenting at major international medical congresses and engaging global scientific communities.
