Role Summary

Vice President, Business Development. Drive Halozyme’s Business Development efforts for the ENHANZE licensing franchise and our small and large volume auto-injectors. Lead identification, evaluation, negotiation, and execution of new ENHANZE, ENHANZE plus HVAI and SVAI opportunities, and support strategic projects related to Halozyme strategy and growth.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of ENHANZE, HVAI, and SVAI Business Development strategies and lead or support tactical execution with the CBO and leadership team.
  • Identify potential ENHANZE collaborations through analyses, meetings, and review of data/publications.
  • Develop and demonstrate technical knowledge of ENHANZE and the Device platforms.
  • Plan engagement with key collaborators and decision-makers, articulating compelling value propositions supported by analyses.
  • Lead CDA and MTA negotiation efforts to progress deal flow.
  • Advance deal negotiations including drafting Collaboration and Licensing Agreements, align internally on proposed terms, and manage external negotiations.
  • Develop knowledge of market landscapes, trends, product developments, trial outcomes, and company activity in relevant areas.
  • Update and present ENHANZE, HVAI, and SVAI partnering materials to prospective partners.
  • Perform financial and market modeling in Excel and create slides to support decisions.
  • Lead and maintain business development activities including tracking and reporting.
  • Lead or support other internal business development projects outside ENHANZE/HVAI/SVAI as directed.
  • Collaborate with potential partners, deal sources, consultants, vendors, and others as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, quantitative, or life sciences field; 18 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Minimum of 12 years’ experience in a pharmaceutical/biotech company or healthcare-focused consulting role.
  • Previous business development experience, including market assessments, financial modeling, business case development, and contract generation.
  • Corporate accounts and direct selling experience is a strong plus.
  • Proven success in identifying new opportunities and supporting licensing deals from start to close.
  • Strong business, negotiation, project management, analytical decision-making, and leadership skills.
  • Creative and forward-thinking, quick learner, adaptability to ambiguity and change, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical/biotech clinical development and regulatory processes; knowledge of medical device development and regulatory processes preferred.
  • Deep network across major pharmaceutical and biotech companies.
  • Ability to provide deal sheet summarizing accomplishments.
  • Knowledge of Box, Intralinks Data Room systems, BioMed Tracker (or equivalent).
  • Master’s and/or PhD preferred.
