Job Summary
US Senior Medical Director plays an integral role in developing and executing US medical strategy for relevant products and supports development in new therapeutic areas aligned with US Medical brand strategy.
Main Objectives
- Develop and execute an integrated medical plan (field medical communications, publications, IME, advisory boards, data generation and dissemination).
- Collaborate across a matrix with internal partners (global medical, commercial, regulatory, legal, scientific communications, pharmacovigilance, public affairs).
- Work externally to support healthcare professionals with evidence-based decisions to optimize patient care and outcomes.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop and execute integrated medical affairs plan (medical education, insight gathering, evidence generation, scientific information exchange).
- Identify and implement medical research projects (external collaborations and company-sponsored studies); support investigator-initiated projects.
- Lead/oversee post-marketing data generation via RWE/registries and external collaborations.
- Collaborate with scientific communications; liaise with US Field Medical; translate insights into strategy and action plans; monitor progress/impact.
- Develop thought-leader relationships; engage with societies, policy makers, and payers.
- Provide medical leadership to sales, marketing, legal, and regulatory; represent medical for US regulatory and reimbursement documents.
- Review/approve promotional materials for medical accuracy; communicate Product Alerts and provide safety/signals input with Drug Safety.
- Maintain integrity and compliance with US operating principles and policies.
Qualifications
- Scientific degree (MD, PhD, PharmD, MA, MPH, etc.).
- At least 5 yearsβ pharmaceutical medical affairs experience.
- Ability to influence without authority in a matrix environment.
- Strategic problem-solving; exceptional oral/written communications; ability to evaluate and communicate scientific data.
