Therapeutic Account Manager (TAM) β Job Functions/Responsibilities
Territory Strategy & Business Performance
- Develop and execute a territory business plan with objectives, customer priorities, resource allocation, and success measures.
- Use performance data, customer insights, market intelligence, access dynamics, and competitive trends to identify opportunities, anticipate barriers, and adjust strategy.
- Deliver objectives through disciplined prioritization, high-quality customer engagement, and accountability for results.
- Maintain accurate customer records, forecasts, expense reporting, and required documentation.
Strategic Account Management & Network Development
- Identify and develop high-opportunity accounts, health systems, centers of excellence, and referral networks (pediatric/adult hepatology & gastroenterology).
- Create and execute customized account plans aligned to local patient journeys, stakeholders, referral patterns, access considerations, and competition.
- Build trusted relationships across care teams; map influence/decision-making and secure next steps.
- Coordinate compliant account actions with field partners and maintain momentum.
Clinical Aptitude & Customer Engagement
- Maintain deep knowledge of rare cholestatic liver disease, diagnostics, mechanisms of action, clinical data, approved uses, safety, support pathways, and access/reimbursement.
- Communicate complex clinical/scientific information credibly and tailor discussions to each HCP/account.
- Engage HCPs as a clinically credible peer; execute approved promotional programs in accordance with policies and regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelorβs degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- 5+ years progressive pharma/biotech sales; strong results in rare disease/specialty/orphan/high-science markets.
- Rare disease experience highly preferred; hepatology/gastroenterology/pediatric specialty desirable.
- Strong clinical aptitude; account-based selling across health systems/centers/multidisciplinary teams/referral networks.
- Challenger/insight-led selling; knowledge of access/reimbursement and patient support pathways.
- Business acumen; exceptional communication/presentation/judgment/emotional intelligence.
- Demonstrated cross-functional partnership success.
- Valid driverβs license; travel up to 70% (frequent overnight; occasional weekends).
