Position Summary
- The Therapeutic Account Manager (TAM) delivers strong, sustainable business performance and meaningful patient impact across an assigned territory by developing clinical and account expertise in rare cholestatic liver diseases and executing customized account plans that support disease awareness, patient identification, treatment consideration/initiation, and persistence.
Job Functions/Responsibilities
Territory Strategy & Business Performance
- Develop and execute a focused territory business plan aligned to national/zone/regional priorities.
- Use performance data, customer insights, market intelligence, access dynamics, and competitive trends to identify opportunities and adjust strategy.
- Deliver objectives through disciplined prioritization, high-quality engagement, effective resource stewardship, and accountability.
- Maintain accurate customer records, forecasts, expense reporting, administrative documentation, and business updates.
Strategic Account Management & Network Development
- Identify, prioritize, and develop high-opportunity accounts, health systems, centers of excellence, and referral networks across pediatric/adult hepatology and gastroenterology.
- Create and execute customized account plans reflecting the local patient journey, stakeholders, decision-making, referral patterns, access considerations, needs, and competition.
- Build trusted relationships across the care team; map influence/decision-making and secure appropriate next steps.
- Coordinate compliant account actions across field partners and maintain momentum.
Clinical Aptitude & Customer Engagement
- Maintain deep knowledge of rare cholestatic liver disease, diagnostics, mechanisms of action, clinical data, product profiles/approved uses, safety, patient support, access/reimbursement, and competition.
- Communicate complex clinical/scientific information credibly and tailor discussions to each HCP/account.
- Engage HCPs as clinically credible peers (questions, active listening, uncovering unmet needs, linking evidence/resources).
- Execute approved promotional programs with consistency and full adherence to policies and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelorโs degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- 5+ years progressive pharmaceutical/biotech sales experience.
- Track record delivering results in complex specialty/rare disease/orphan drug/high-science markets.
- Rare disease experience highly preferred; hepatology/gastroenterology/pediatric specialty desirable.
- Strong clinical aptitude; ability to learn/retain/communicate complex disease and product information.
- Account-based selling experience across health systems, centers of excellence, multidisciplinary teams, referral networks, and influential HCPs.
- Ability to use insight-led/challenger-style selling to influence behavior and advance decision-making.
- Working knowledge of access/reimbursement and patient support pathways.
- Strong business acumen and ability to translate data into territory/account strategies and execution.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, communication/presentation/judgment.
- Proven self-motivation, resourcefulness, resilience, and independent prioritization in ambiguity.
- Demonstrated cross-functional partnership experience (Medical Affairs, Market Access, Patient Services, Marketing, Commercial Training & Effectiveness, Operations, Analytics).
- Commitment to ethical conduct, compliance, and approved promotional practices.
- Valid driverโs license; travel up to 70% (frequent overnight; occasional weekends).
