Position Summary
- The Therapeutic Account Manager (TAM) delivers strong, sustainable business performance and meaningful patient impact across an assigned territory.
- Develops deep clinical and account expertise in rare cholestatic liver diseases; prioritizes high-opportunity customers/accounts/referral networks; executes customized account plans to advance disease awareness, patient identification, treatment consideration/initiation, and persistence.
Responsibilities
- Territory Strategy & Business Performance: Develop/execute a territory business plan aligned to national/zone/regional priorities; use performance data and market/access/competitive insights to adjust strategy; deliver objectives through prioritization, engagement, and resource stewardship; maintain accurate customer records, forecasts, expenses, and required administrative documentation.
- Strategic Account Management & Network Development: Identify/prioritize/develop high-opportunity accounts and referral networks across pediatric/adult hepatology and gastroenterology; create customized account plans based on patient journey and stakeholders; build trusted relationships across care teams; map influence/decision-making and secure next steps; coordinate compliant account actions with field partners.
- Clinical Aptitude & Customer Engagement: Maintain deep knowledge of rare cholestatic liver disease and product/clinical/patient support/access/reimbursement topics; communicate complex science credibly; engage HCPs as a clinically credible peer; execute approved promotional programs in adherence to policies and regulations.
- Influence & Impact: Reframe issues to address gaps in awareness/identification/referral/treatment support; use emotional intelligence and thoughtful questioning to build trust and influence decisions.
- Customer/Patient/Caregiver Impact: Keep patients/caregivers central; support a trust-based customer experience; collaborate with Market Access and Patient Services to navigate barriers; identify and elevate recurring barriers to internal teams.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Medical Affairs, Market Access, Patient Services, Marketing, Training/Effectiveness, Operations, Analytics, and Advocacy; share actionable field insights; contribute to reviews, training, launch readiness, and cross-functional initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelorโs degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- 5+ years progressive pharmaceutical/biotech sales experience.
- Track record delivering results in complex specialty/rare disease/orphan drug/high-science markets.
- Rare disease experience highly preferred; hepatology/gastroenterology/pediatric specialty highly desirable.
- Strong clinical aptitude; ability to learn/communicate complex disease and product information.
- Experience in account-based selling across health systems/centers of excellence/multidisciplinary teams/referral networks.
- Demonstrated insight-led or challenger-style selling.
- Working knowledge of access and reimbursement and patient support pathways.
- Strong business acumen; interpret data and develop/execute territory/account strategies.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence; strong communication/presentation.
- Self-motivated, resilient, organized; able to prioritize and work independently in ambiguity.
- Cross-functional partnership experience with Medical Affairs, Market Access, Patient Services, Marketing, Training/Effectiveness, Operations, Analytics.
- Commitment to ethical conduct, compliance, and approved promotional practices.
- Valid driverโs license; travel up to 70% (frequent overnight; occasional weekend commitments).
