Position Summary
- The Therapeutic Account Manager (TAM) delivers strong, sustainable business performance and meaningful patient impact across an assigned territory.
- Develops deep clinical and account expertise in rare cholestatic liver diseases and Mirum’s Liver portfolio.
- Identifies and prioritizes high-opportunity customers, accounts, and referral networks; executes customized account plans to advance disease awareness, patient identification, treatment consideration, initiation, and persistence in line with approved indications and promotional practices.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a territory business plan; use performance data, customer insights, market intelligence, access dynamics, and competitive trends to adjust strategy.
- Maintain accurate customer records, forecasts, expense reporting, and required administrative documentation.
- Identify and develop high-opportunity accounts, health systems, centers of excellence, and referral networks across pediatric/adult hepatology and gastroenterology.
- Create and execute customized account plans reflecting local patient journey, stakeholders, clinical decision-making, referral patterns, access considerations, and competitive realities.
- Build trusted relationships across the care team; map influence in complex accounts and secure appropriate next steps.
- Develop deep knowledge of rare cholestatic liver disease, diagnostics, mechanisms of action, clinical data, product profiles, approved uses, safety, and patient support/access.
- Communicate complex scientific/clinical information clearly and credibly; execute approved promotional programs in compliance with policies and regulations.
- Use insight-led, peer-engagement approaches to influence multiple stakeholders without authority; navigate resistance constructively.
- Keep patients/caregivers central; collaborate with Market Access and Patient Services; elevate and address access/patient-support barriers.
- Partner with cross-functional teams (Medical Affairs, Marketing, Market Access, Patient Services, etc.) and share actionable field insights.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive pharmaceutical/biotech sales experience.
- Track record in complex specialty/rare disease/orphan/high-science markets.
- Rare disease experience highly preferred; hepatology/gastroenterology/pediatric specialty desirable.
- Strong clinical aptitude and ability to learn/communicate complex medical information.
- Account-based selling experience across health systems, centers of excellence, multidisciplinary care teams, referral networks.
- Insight-led/challenger-style selling capability.
- Working knowledge of access/reimbursement, patient support pathways.
- Strong business acumen and data interpretation.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, communication/presentation, and judgment.
- Self-motivation, resilience, organization; ability to work independently in ambiguity.
- Demonstrated cross-functional partnership success.
- Commitment to ethical conduct and approved promotional practices.
- Valid driver’s license; travel up to 70% (frequent overnight; occasional weekends).
