Position Summary
- The Therapeutic Account Manager (TAM) delivers strong business performance and meaningful patient impact across an assigned territory by building clinical and account expertise in rare cholestatic liver diseases and executing customized account plans to advance disease awareness, patient identification, treatment consideration, initiation, and persistence.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a focused territory business plan aligned to national/zone/regional priorities; use performance data, customer insights, market intelligence, access dynamics, and competitive trends to identify opportunities and adjust execution.
- Maintain accurate records, forecasts, expense reporting, administrative documentation, and business updates.
- Identify, prioritize, and develop high-opportunity accounts, health systems, centers of excellence, and referral networks (pediatric and adult hepatology/gastroenterology).
- Create and execute customized account plans based on local patient journey, stakeholders, clinical decision-making, referral patterns, access needs, and competitive realities.
- Build trusted relationships with care team members; map influence/decision-making in complex accounts and secure appropriate next steps.
- Coordinate compliant account actions across field partners and maintain momentum.
- Develop deep knowledge of rare cholestatic liver disease, diagnostics, mechanisms of action, clinical data, approved uses, safety, patient support, and access/reimbursement.
- Communicate complex scientific/clinical information credibly; engage HCPs as a clinically credible peer; execute approved promotional programs in full compliance.
- Help address gaps across awareness β identification β referral β treatment consideration β ongoing support.
- Identify and elevate recurring access/patient-support barriers; collaborate with Market Access and Patient Services partners.
- Partner with Medical Affairs, Market Access, Patient Services, Marketing, Commercial Training & Effectiveness, Operations, Analytics, and Advocacy; share actionable field insights; contribute to reviews/training/launch readiness.
Qualifications
- Bachelorβs degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- 5+ years progressive pharmaceutical/biotech sales experience.
- Track record delivering results in complex specialty/rare disease/orphan/high-science markets.
- Rare disease experience highly preferred; hepatology/gastroenterology/pediatric specialty desirable.
- Strong clinical aptitude and ability to learn/communicate complex disease/product information.
- Account-based selling experience across systems, centers of excellence, multidisciplinary teams, referral networks.
- Ability to use insight-led/challenger-style selling to influence decision-making.
- Working knowledge of access/reimbursement and patient support pathways.
- Strong business acumen; exceptional interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence.
- Proven self-motivation, resilience, organization, and ability to perform independently in ambiguity.
- Cross-functional partnership experience (Medical Affairs, Market Access, Patient Services, Marketing, Commercial Training & Effectiveness, Operations, Analytics).
- Commitment to ethical conduct, compliance, and approved promotional practices.
- Valid driverβs license; travel up to 70% (frequent overnight; occasional weekends).
