Position Summary
The Therapeutic Account Manager (TAM) delivers strong, sustainable business performance and meaningful patient impact across an assigned territory. Develop deep clinical and account expertise in rare cholestatic liver diseases; prioritize high-opportunity customers, accounts, and referral networks; and execute customized account plans to advance disease awareness, patient identification, treatment consideration, initiation, and persistence in line with approved indications and promotional practices.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a territory business plan aligned to national/zone/regional priorities; set objectives, customer priorities, resource allocation, and success measures.
- Use performance data, customer insights, market intelligence, access dynamics, and competitive trends to identify opportunities and adjust execution.
- Maintain accurate customer records, forecasts, expense reporting, required administrative documentation, and business updates.
- Identify, prioritize, and develop high-opportunity accounts, health systems, centers of excellence, and pediatric/adult hepatology and gastroenterology referral networks.
- Create and execute customized account plans based on the local patient journey, stakeholders, clinical decision-making, referral patterns, access considerations, and competition.
- Build trusted relationships across the care team; map influence/decision-making; secure appropriate next steps.
- Maintain deep knowledge of disease, diagnostic pathways, mechanisms of action, clinical data, product profiles/approved uses, safety, patient support, and access/reimbursement.
- Communicate complex scientific/clinical information credibly and tailor discussions to HCP/account needs.
- Engage HCPs as a clinically credible peer; ask insightful questions, listen actively, identify unmet needs, and connect evidence/resources.
- Execute approved promotional programs with adherence to policies and regulatory requirements.
- Help stakeholders recognize gaps across the patient journey; use emotional intelligence and thoughtful questioning to influence change.
- Keep patients/caregivers central; collaborate with Market Access and Patient Services; identify and elevate access/patient-support barriers for internal resolution.
- Partner cross-functionally (Medical Affairs, Market Access, Patient Services, Marketing, Commercial Training & Effectiveness, Operations, Analytics, Advocacy) and share actionable field insights.
Qualifications
- Bachelorโs required; advanced degree preferred.
- 5+ years progressive pharmaceutical/biotech sales experience; proven delivery in rare disease/specialty/orphan/high-science markets.
- Rare disease experience highly preferred; hepatology/gastroenterology/pediatric specialty desirable.
- Strong clinical aptitude to learn, retain, and communicate complex disease/product information.
- Account-based selling experience across health systems/centers of excellence/multidisciplinary teams/referral networks.
- Insight-led or challenger-style selling; ability to influence behavior and advance customer decision-making.
- Working knowledge of access and reimbursement and patient support pathways.
- Strong business acumen and interpretation of performance data; territory/account strategy execution.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills/emotional intelligence/communication/presentation/judgment.
- Self-motivated, resourceful, resilient, organized; able to work independently in ambiguous environments.
- Cross-functional partnership experience (Medical Affairs, Market Access, Patient Services, Marketing, Training & Effectiveness, Operations, Analytics).
- Commitment to ethical conduct, compliance, and approved promotional practices.
- Valid driverโs license; travel up to 70% (frequent overnight; occasional weekends).
