Responsibilities:
- Accountable for execution via the CDSO operating model and preservation of its integrity (standardization, economies of scale/scope, harmonization for clinical development efficiency/effectiveness).
- Develop and empower a leadership team with operations and domain expertise; inspire/influence; co-create; instill ownership and accountability.
- Ensure adherence to and perpetuation of standards for CDSO talent acquisition and development; differentiate the operations workforce.
- Develop a culture that encourages questioning norms, intrapreneurship, debate, pride in execution, and work-life balance.
- Maintain speed and quality using the CDSO operating model with flexibility/agility in a volatile environment.
- Provide oversight and fluid global resource allocation (employees, contractors, service providers) and navigate drivers such as prioritization, forecasts, demand fluctuation, and talent variation.
- Participate in and contribute to industry consortiums as a critical AbbVie representative.
- Execute strategic roadmaps with CDSO and R&D peers; support validation through leadership alignment.
- Represent AbbVie with regulatory authorities to support inspections and queries.
Qualifications:
- Bachelorโs degree required; Advanced degrees (e.g., MBA, PhD) preferred.
- 10+ yearsโ experience in pharmaceutical/biotech or as an operations leader; 5+ years matrix team management.
- Broad business orientation; advanced operations philosophy/methodology.
- Crisp, clear written and oral communication.
- Neutral, evidence-based decision-making; understand opposing viewpoints; form results-driven opinions.
- Ability to model/manage performance behaviors and teach by example.
- Creative and analytical; generate novel ideas and use data to decide.
- Demonstrated networking; influence across levels/functions; build relationships via diplomacy and domain expertise.
- Ability to work across functional and geographical boundaries.
- Ability to inspire global workforce toward delivery of highest-quality clinical data.
