Strategic Planning & Operations Director (Chief of Staff to SVP Engineering)

Responsibilities:
- Serve as a strategic advisor and extension of the SVP of Engineering
- Orchestrate priorities, decision-making, and alignment across the Engineering Senior Leadership Team (ELT)
- Own and continuously improve the Engineering operating rhythm (ELT meetings, strategy sessions, executive forums)
- Lead development of CEO staff, Board of Directors, and external-facing materials
- Ensure effective governance frameworks enabling speed, clarity, and accountability
- Lead development, articulation, and execution of Engineering’s strategy, goals, and objectives
- Translate strategic priorities into actionable roadmaps and measurable outcomes
- Drive enterprise-wide transformation initiatives to improve performance, scalability, and resilience
- Partner with senior leaders to identify and solve complex, high-impact business challenges
- Own Engineering business performance system (KPIs, dashboards, reporting)
- Generate actionable insights using data and analytics to inform executive decisions
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve productivity, capital efficiency, and operational performance
- Leverage technology and digital tools to enhance visibility and decision-making
- Lead and deliver critical cross-functional initiatives aligned to Engineering priorities
- Structure ambiguous problems into clear workstreams and drive execution to results
- Manage multiple high-priority initiatives simultaneously while maintaining quality and speed
- Influence and align stakeholders across functions, geographies, and levels

Qualifications:
- Doctorate degree + 4 years of business analysis/strategy/transformation experience OR
- Master’s degree + 8 years of business analysis/strategy/transformation experience OR
- Bachelor’s degree + 10 years of business analysis/strategy/transformation experience
- At least 4 years’ experience directly managing people and/or leading teams, projects, programs, or directing allocation/resources

Preferred/Highly desirable skills & experience:
- Proven experience advising/influencing senior executives on strategy and business decisions
- Demonstrated success leading complex cross-functional initiatives with measurable outcomes
- Strong problem-solving in ambiguity; ability to drive clarity
- Experience in management consulting (e.g., Big 4, MBB) or internal strategy/operations
- Experience in biotech, pharmaceuticals, or engineering-intensive industries
- Strong business and financial acumen (including facilities and capital project environments)
- Experience with organizational transformation and change management
- Executive presence; exceptional communication and stakeholder management
- Ability to influence without authority across all organization levels
- Familiarity with continuous improvement (Lean, Six Sigma)
- Agile, versatile leader across strategic and operational domains
