Medical Science Liaison / Senior Medical Science Liaison – Gulf Territory
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain relationships with healthcare professionals, clinical care sites, and key stakeholders in the assigned territory.
- Become an expert in the therapeutic area; identify educational gaps; stay current via literature review and medical congress participation.
- Serve as a primary, credible source of balanced medical and scientific information.
- Compliantly educate and engage in scientific exchange; deliver medical presentations; gather insights; respond to HCP requests.
- Develop and implement a territory-specific medical plan; contribute to strategic territory plans aligned with medical affairs strategy and evidence generation needs.
- Lead cross-functional collaborations; advise internal stakeholders and align field insights to medical strategy.
- Lead scientific congress strategic planning, execution, and post-congress analysis; deliver executive-level summaries with actionable insights.
- Contribute to scientific/medical content (slide decks, FAQs, training materials, field-facing collateral) and participate in cross-functional initiatives.
- Collaborate with clinical development on research initiatives (investigator/site identification and investigator-sponsored trial processes).
- Mentor and support peer MSLs.
- Represent the company at major scientific conferences and external forums.
Where you’ll work:
- U.S.-based, field-based remote; 50–75% travel (averaging ~3 days/week), including evenings/weekends and quarterly visits to San Francisco.
- Gulf Territory: TN, AL, MS, LA, AR, and FL Panhandle.
Qualifications:
- PharmD, PhD, MD, or other advanced healthcare degree (other degrees + relevant experience considered).
- MSL: 2+ years in clinical patient care, medical affairs, or field medical role with a record of high performance.
- Senior MSL: 4+ years in medical affairs or field medical with a record of high performance.
Preferred:
- Prior experience in rare diseases, cardiology, or neurology.
Skills:
- Strong interpersonal communication, presentation, and networking.
- Ability to engage in scientific dialogue and clearly present complex information.
- Exceptional teaching/scientific communication and relationship-building with industry/academic leaders.
- Understanding of clinical research and pharmaceutical product development processes.
- Cross-functional collaboration; adaptability.
- Leadership capability in project teams.
- Strong organization; independent work with autonomy and accountability for territory/therapeutic area outcomes.
