Role Summary

The Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-based role within the US Medical Affairs organization, responsible for developing and enhancing professional relationships with medical thought leaders and providing medical information and scientific support within the Epilepsy therapeutic area. This position covers Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Mississippi.

Responsibilities

  • KOL Development and Field Engagement: identify and develop peer-to-peer relationships with key opinion leaders and healthcare providers in Epilepsy; develop and execute territory plans; communicate key clinical and research issues from KOLs to appropriate departments; participate in medical education for HCPs; provide scientific support for activities such as medical congress staffing, advisory boards, and sales training initiatives.
  • Positions self as Scientific Expert: maintain up-to-date knowledge of the therapy area and Jazz products; establish reputation as a source of scientific information; support positioning as the scientific authority in Epilepsy; attend scientific congresses; understand local and national clinical practice trends; provide clinical presentations and information in various settings; communicate emerging data objectively; support additional activities as needed.
  • Clinical Development And Research Management: act as liaison to IIT investigators; monitor IIT, review study designs, oversee milestones; collaborate to support patient enrollment in sponsored trials; serve as internal scientific advisor for evaluating new products/technologies.
  • Medical Affairs Planning and Plan Execution: contribute to US Medical Plan; manage budgets when needed; collaborate cross-functionally for Key Account Management; interact with HCPs as a scientific resource for advisory boards, speaker development, and trials.
  • Maintaining Company Standards and Jazz Values: engage healthcare providers in scientific exchange; report adverse events and product complaints; adhere to Codes of Practice; act ethically and with integrity; maintain personal development plans; provide timely reporting.

Qualifications

  • Required: Knowledge to research, analyze, and communicate complex scientific information; ability to travel at least 60% of workdays; clear and concise communication and presentation skills; strong planning, organizational, and detail-oriented abilities; strategic mindset; high motivation and autonomy; quick learner and results-focused; strong negotiation and relationship-building skills; proficiency with digital platforms; excellent English.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of geography and external experts in academia; ability to develop trust with opinion leaders; understanding regulatory requirements for field-based personnel.
  • Education and Experience: MS/Advanced Practice Degree in a scientific/medical field with at least 5 years of Epilepsy experience, or MD/DO/PhD; MSL experience in Neurology required, Epilepsy strongly preferred; minimum 3 years as an MSL with a successful track record; willingness to travel 60โ€šร„รฌ80% time; valid driverโ€šร„รดs license and residence within 60 miles of a major airport.
