Role Summary

Medical Science Liaison, CardioRenal - Virginia South - Richmond, VA. Cardiovascular Renal (CVR) Medical Science Liaison role focused on providing medical and scientific support for Cardiorenal products, engaging with KOLs, KDMs, and HCPs, and advancing patient outcomes through scientific exchange and collaboration with Therapeutic Brand Teams.

Responsibilities

  • The CardioRenal Medical Science Liaison provides medical and scientific support for Cardiorenal marketed products, new indications for current products, and compounds in development.
  • Engage in scientific exchange with targeted Key Opinion Leaders, Key Decision Makers, and Healthcare Professionals in alignment with Medical Affairs objectives.
  • Identify and engage key customers with scientific expertise and business knowledge of AstraZeneca products; develop peer-level relationships with KDMs, HCPs, and researchers; identify investigators for pre-clinical, clinical, and post-marketing studies in line with Clinical Development goals.
  • Uncover barriers to optimal disease management, identify opportunities to improve patient outcomes, and provide actionable information that enhances product value and appropriate use; respond to inquiries with focused clinical and scientific information that differentiates products.
  • Adhere to internal processes and regulatory/compliance requirements; maintain disease state expertise, emerging therapies knowledge, and competitive landscape awareness.
  • Provide clinical support and deliver data presentations regionally and nationally; demonstrate project leadership across the field medical team; train and mentor within the therapeutic area; provide performance guidance and coaching.

Qualifications

  • Essential: Advanced Clinical/Science Degree (e.g., MD, PharmD, PhD, NP, PA-C; BSN with extensive clinical experience may be considered).
  • Thorough understanding of the healthcare system landscape.
  • Established networks and clinical experience within the Therapeutic Area focus.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to discuss scientific content and context to multiple audiences; excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership capabilities and excellent project management ability.
  • Thorough knowledge of regulatory environment.
  • Ability to travel 50-70% (percentage varies by geography).

Desirable Qualifications

  • Established experience delivering quality improvement initiatives.
  • 2+ yearsβ€šΓ„Γ΄ experience as a Medical Science Liaison in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Established track record of basic or clinical research.
