Role Summary

The Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-based scientist who serves as an extension of the US Medical Affairs organization, responsible for developing and enhancing professional relationships with medical thought leaders involved in various phases of product development and providing medical information and scientific support.

Responsibilities

  • KOL Development and Field Engagement: Identify and develop peer-to-peer relationships with key opinion leaders and healthcare providers in Epilepsy; develop and execute territory plans; communicate key clinical and research insights to appropriate departments; participate in medical education for HCPs; provide scientific support for activities such as medical congress staffing, advisory boards, and sales training initiatives.
  • Positions self as Scientific Expert: Maintain high-level knowledge of therapy area and Jazz products; establish reputation as a trustworthy source of scientific information; attend scientific congresses to support KOL activities; understand local/national clinical practice standards; provide clinical presentations in various settings; communicate emerging data objectively; support additional activities as needed.
  • Clinical Development And Research Management: Act as liaison to IIT investigators; monitor IIT research, review study designs, oversee milestones; collaborate to support patient enrollment in sponsored trials; serve as internal scientific advisor for new products/technologies.
  • Medical Affairs Planning and Plan Execution: Contribute to US Medical Plan; manage relevant budget as needed; collaborate cross-functionally to ensure Key Account Management; engage HCPs as scientific resources for advisory boards, speaker development, and trials.
  • Responsible For Maintaining Company Standards And Jazz Values: Enhance image through scientific exchange; report adverse events and product complaints; adhere to Codes of Practice; act ethically; ambassadors for mission/values; maintain development plans and timely reporting.

Qualifications

  • MS/Advanced Practice Degree in scientific/medical discipline with minimum 5 years in Epilepsy, or MD/PhD/PharmD; MSL experience in Neurology required; epilepsy experience strongly preferred
  • Minimum 3 years as an MSL with a strong track record
  • Willingness to travel 60β€šΓ„Γ¬80% time; valid driverβ€šΓ„Γ΄s license; reside within 60 miles of a major airport
  • Excellent communication, presentation, planning, and organizational skills
  • Strategic mindset, self-motivated, autonomous work style
  • Ability to learn quickly, adapt to a changing environment, and work with digital platforms
  • Knowledge of geography/healthcare environment and external experts in academia and medical community (preferred)
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements for field-based personnel (preferred)
