Role Summary

Senior Director of IT Infrastructure and Operations responsible for leading data centers, cloud platforms, networking, disaster recovery, service desk, and AV/Microsoft technologies to ensure performance, security, and scalability. Focus on strategic planning, team leadership, and delivering world-class employee experiences within a fast-growing biotech environment.

Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure Management: Oversee global IT infrastructure, cloud platforms (AWS as primary, with Azure and GCP), networking, disaster recovery, multi-cloud strategy, storage, server management (physical and virtual), patch management, backup and recovery, database administration, data center operations, asset management, CMDB maintenance, compliance and governance, and capacity planning.
  • Service Desk Management: Ensure timely, effective support to employees globally; develop procedures and improve end-user experience.
  • Audio/Visual Management: Administer AV systems, optimize Zoom, manage All Hands and multi-media events, and maintain other AV systems.
  • Microsoft Technologies Management: Manage Teams, M365, and Active Directory for secure collaboration.
  • Monitoring Systems: Establish and maintain monitoring for performance, availability, and security in partnership with security teams.
  • Strategic Technology Planning: Lead roadmaps, drive innovation, and align IT investments with growth objectives.
  • Operational Capability: Manage global IT operations with ITSM practices, asset management, and cross-functional collaboration with CISO and business tech leaders.
  • Inspection Readiness and Response: Support regulatory inspections, maintain documentation, assist with audits, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Management Functions: Vendor and MSP management, IT roadmapping, financial management, and team building.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience managing global infrastructure and service desk teams in a high-growth environment.
  • Strong project management skills; proven success delivering complex projects.
  • Expertise in cloud technologies and data center management; advanced technical proficiency.
  • Excellent leadership and team-building abilities.

Experience

  • 15+ years of progressive IT Infrastructure and Operations experience.
  • 5+ years in senior leadership roles (Director, Senior Director, VP).
  • Proven track record overseeing enterprise infrastructure, cloud transformations, data centers, networking, and disaster recovery.
  • Experience leading service desk/support organizations and improving end-user satisfaction.
  • Experience managing hybrid IT environments and driving innovation with modern technologies (cloud-native, automation, monitoring tools).

Education

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field required.
  • Masterโ€™s degree (e.g., MBA or MIS) strongly preferred.
  • Non-Degreed candidates with proven experience will be considered.
