About The Role
Supports Business Development activities through identification, scientific evaluation, and analysis of potential licensing opportunities and partnerships in the biopharmaceutical space. Conducts comprehensive search and evaluation activities and generates competitive landscapes to identify promising therapeutic assets and technologies to expand the company’s pipeline. Performs detailed scientific assessment of opportunities, including analysis of mechanism of action, preclinical/clinical data, and therapeutic/market potential. Participates in due diligence (review of scientific documentation and coordination with subject matter experts). Develops business cases and leads deal execution; prepares proposals, negotiations, and presentations, working cross-functionally to advance BD objectives.
Your Contributions (include, But Are Not Limited To)
- Manages BD transaction projects from early development through commercialization
- Leads cross-functional internal/external teams to meet objectives and timelines
- Leads/assists due diligence and valuation work; assesses products and technology
- Monitors relevant industry trends, companies, technologies, and therapeutic areas
- Partners with R&D to set priorities for external opportunities
- Coordinates diligence meetings; develops and reviews contracts with Legal, IP, and Finance
- Coordinates partnering conferences; outreaches to potential collaborators
- Assists with background research, works with vendors/investment banks/consultants
- Creates/reviews BD presentations; helps build/maintain BD team infrastructure
- Ensures compliance with internal policies, governmental regulations, and best practices
Requirements
- BS/BA (life sciences/finance/business or similar) + 8+ years BD/VC/investment research/investment banking/corporate development; or Master’s/MBA + 6+ years; or PhD + 4+ years
- Knowledge of search/evaluation of preclinical/clinical assets and platforms in Neurology/Immunology/Endocrinology/Psychiatry across modalities (small molecules, antibodies, peptides, oligonucleotides, gene therapy)
- Biotech/Pharma R&D experience with some BD/VC/investment research/investment banking/corporate development exposure
- Strong scientific acumen, competitive landscape understanding, and biopharmaceutical/regulatory process knowledge
- Strong project management/leadership; analytical/problem-solving; communication
- Ability to prioritize/multi-task; MS Office proficiency
