Overall Purpose:
Frontline specialty sales role responsible for territory disease-state education, product launch, and ongoing growth of LENZ Therapeutics’ product portfolio in the ophthalmic presbyopia market.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build relationships and develop accounts, targeting physicians (Optometrists & Ophthalmologists).
- Exceed sales performance goals and key productivity metrics across the territory.
- Use analytics to guide productive activity; prioritize customer engagements; increase reach and frequency to drive product trial and utilization.
- Understand roles within ophthalmology/optometry practices and how they affect prescribing and pull-through.
- Maintain clinical/eye care knowledge: ocular anatomy, disease state, products, and office treatment patterns.
- Develop and execute actionable business plans aligned to sales activities.
- Demonstrate personal accountability for high standards of ethics and compliance.
- Maximize key resources to drive territory success.
- Adapt in a selling environment with multiple stakeholders (district managers, marketing, medical affairs, sales ops, inside sales, training).
- Share best practices with peers and leadership to improve performance.
- Ensure PDMA compliance and follow all company/industry compliance guidelines.
- Quickly pivot based on new market information; strong communication and change management.
Additional/Work Requirements:
- Field-based (remote); must live within the assigned territory.
- Travel required within the territory and beyond for meetings, conventions, and headquarters in San Diego, CA.
- Up to 40–50% travel in some larger territories.
- Reports directly to the District Manager.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
- Office and ophthalmic practitioner locations; may require prolonged sitting, intermittent phone/email/keyboard use, some walking, and lifting up to 20 lbs.; flexible schedules; frequent out-of-town travel.
Salary/Compensation:
- $110,000–$140,000 per year (based on successful sales experience in pharma, eye care pharma, and vision care).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field.
- 2+ years of experience in pharmaceutical sales with a proven track record of success (required).
- Proven track record of pharmaceutical launch experience (strongly preferred).
- Eye care experience (strongly preferred).
