Role Summary

Specialty Representative, Rheumatology – Indianapolis, IN. Field-based role serving the assigned geography with a focus on executing brand strategy and driving sales performance while placing the patient at the center of AbbVie’s efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed objectives.
  • Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and close calls effectively.
  • Proactively address customer needs and challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements.
  • Develop and execute a call plan to achieve metrics and optimize coverage and frequency with key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease states, product, clinical and sales expertise; share market intelligence with in-field and brand teams to align and optimize strategy.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify/ develop disease state experts and speakers to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or equivalent industry experience required.
  • Equivalent experience: at least five (5) years in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, with three (3) or more years in pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required.
  • Proven track record in selling with strong presentation skills; adaptable to customer styles/behaviors; innovative ideas to maximize opportunities; able to respond to changes.
  • Influences others; credible, respected resource; capable of leading by example and coaching peers in changing environments.
  • Documented leadership and increased responsibility at district/region/organizational levels; able to leverage findings to develop sales strategies.
  • Preferred: proven sales performance in therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care or marketing; English proficiency verbally and in writing.
  • Must satisfy all HCIR credentialing requirements to gain entry into facilities within the territory; must be in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
  • Demonstrates deep scientific/therapeutic/product/competitive knowledge and strong business acumen; able to operate effectively in a matrix environment.
  • Must drive a personal auto or company car; valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and meet safe driving requirements.
