This role is field-based; candidates should live within a reasonable distance from the primary city (Orland Park to Springfield to Mattoon, and the east and west borders of Illinois within those parameters).
Execute brand strategy and tactics in field; manage assigned territory and targeted accounts; build strong customer relationships; solve customer needs to maximize short- and long-term sales performance, placing the patient at the center of efforts and operating within AbbVie’s business code of conduct, policies, and applicable laws/regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives.
- Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives; perform post-call evaluations to continuously improve performance; handle objections and close on sales calls.
- Proactively serve customer needs/expectations/challenges to build trusted relationships and win-win agreements.
- Develop and execute call plans to achieve call metrics and optimize coverage/frequency for key customers.
- Build and share market intelligence (customer needs, landscape, competitors, segments/dynamics, accounts, disease, products, clinical/sales expertise) to align strategy and anticipate changes.
- Differentiate value proposition; identify/develop/maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in health/sciences/pharmacy/business preferred; or equivalent industry experience required.
- If no bachelor’s: at least 5 years relevant experience; 3+ years in pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required.
- Proven sales success and strong presentation skills; adapts selling approach; innovative problem-solving.
- Influences others; credible role model; collaborative partnership; peer coaching.
- Documented leadership success at district/region/organizational levels; develops sales strategies.
- Preferred: therapeutic area sales success; commercial pharma experience (physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing); English proficiency (verbal/written for non-English countries).
- Satisfy HCIR credentialing requirements to enter facilities; must be in good standing/eligible.
- Demonstrates in-depth scientific/therapeutic/product/competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and strategic thinking; effective in matrix environment.
- Ability to drive personal or company vehicle/equipment.
- Valid driver’s license; pass pre-employment drug screening and meet safe driving requirements.
