Role Summary
- Field-based role; candidates should live within a reasonable distance from the primary city.
- Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field, manage assigned territory and targeted accounts, and build strong customer relationships to maximize short- and long-term sales performance while placing the patient at the center of all efforts and complying with AbbVie’s business code of conduct, policies, and all applicable laws and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, and financial targets/marketing objectives.
- Create pre-call plans; perform post-call evaluations to continuously improve performance; handle objections and drive effective calls to action to close on sales calls.
- Serve customer needs and challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements.
- Develop and execute call plans to meet call metrics and optimize customer coverage and frequency.
- Build and share market intelligence (customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, segments/dynamics, accounts, disease, and product/clinical/sales expertise) to align and optimize brand strategy.
- Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition; identify/develop/maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in health/sciences/pharmacy/business preferred; otherwise at least 5 years relevant industry experience (3+ years preferred) in pharmaceutical/health/science; high school diploma/GED required.
- In-depth scientific/therapeutic/product/competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and strategic/critical thinking.
- Ability to adapt selling approach; leverage insights to develop sales strategies and offer innovative solutions.
- Experience operating in a matrix environment; leadership, collaboration, and peer coaching.
- Preferred: proven sales performance in relevant therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing; English proficiency (verbal and written for non-English speaking countries).
- Satisfy HCIR credentialing requirements for assigned territory.
- Valid driver’s license; ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and meet safe driving requirements.
