Role Summary

Specialty Representative, Psychiatry - El Paso, TX. This role is field-based and requires candidates to live within a reasonable distance from the primary city. Talent will be hired at a level commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

  • Execute brand strategy and tactics in field, drive sales performance, manage assigned territory and targeted accounts, build strong customer relationships, and solve customer needs to maximize short and long term sales while placing the patient at the center and complying with all laws and AbbVie policies.
  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, marketing objectives, and other agreed objectives.
  • Create pre-call plan objectives and post-call evaluations to improve sales performance; handle objections and close effectively on each sales call.
  • Aim to serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that achieves call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Gather and share market intelligence on customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease state, products, clinical and sales insights to align with in-field and brand teams and adapt to changes.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify and engage disease state experts and advocates to maximize brand performance.
  • Operate with a personal or company vehicle or powered equipment as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant-equivalent industry experience required; high school diploma/GED required with equivalent industry experience.
  • At least five (5) years of relevant industry experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, with three (3) or more years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred.
  • In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and strategic thinking; proficient use of business tools.
  • Ability to identify customer styles and adapt selling approaches; develop sales strategies based on findings; provide innovative solutions.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment; influence others and be seen as a credible resource; build partnerships with district colleagues and matrix teams.
  • Leads by example with positive behaviors; documented leadership experience at district/region/organizational levels.
  • Preferred: Proven sales performance in respective therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed care or marketing; English proficiency (verbal and written).
  • Essential: Satisfy all applicable HCIR credentialing requirements to access facilities and organizations in the assigned territory; must be in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
  • HCIR credentialing may include background checks, drug screens, immunization proof, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses; candidate is responsible for satisfying all requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license with ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and meet safe driving requirements.
