This role is field-based; candidates should live within a reasonable distance from the primary city.
Responsibilities
- Execute brand strategy and tactics in field; manage assigned territory and targeted accounts; build customer relationships; solve customer needs to maximize short- and long-term sales performance; operate in accordance with AbbVie’s business code of conduct, policies, and applicable laws and regulations.
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, and financial/marketing objectives.
- Create pre-call objectives and perform post-call evaluations; handle objections and gain logical, reasonable calls to action to close.
- Proactively serve customer needs and build trusted relationships; achieve win-win agreements.
- Develop and execute a call plan to meet call metrics and optimize coverage/frequency to key customers.
- Build and share market intelligence (customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, disease/product/clinical expertise) to align brand strategy and execution.
- Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition; identify, develop, and maintain disease state experts/speakers/advocates.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in health/sciences/pharmacy/business preferred; or equivalent industry experience required.
- If no bachelor’s: at least 5 years’ experience, with 3+ years in pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required.
- Proven leadership success; strong presentation skills; business acumen and use of business tools; strategic/critical thinking.
- Ability to adapt selling approach to customer behavior; effective in a matrix environment.
- Preferred: success in sales performance within relevant therapeutic areas; physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing experience; in-depth scientific/therapeutic/product/competitive knowledge.
- Preferred: English proficiency (verbal and written) for non-English speaking countries.
- Essential: satisfy HCIR credentialing requirements for assigned territory facilities; responsible for compliance.
- Valid driver’s license; ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and meet safe driving requirements.
