Job Description
This role is field-based; candidates should live within a reasonable distance from the primary city.
Responsibilities
- Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field; manage assigned territory and targeted accounts; build strong customer relationships to maximize short- and long-term sales performance.
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives.
- Create pre-call objectives and conduct post-call evaluations; handle objections to close each sales call.
- Proactively serve customer needs to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements.
- Develop and execute call plans to meet call metrics and optimize coverage/frequency of key customers.
- Build and share market intelligence (customer needs, competitors, disease/product/clinical and sales expertise) with in-field team, brand team, and sales manager.
- Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition; identify, develop, and maintain disease-state experts and speakers/advocates.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred; relevant equivalent industry experience required.
- If no bachelor’s: at least 5 years of experience (3+ years preferred) in pharmaceutical/health/science; high school diploma/GED required.
- Leadership success, solid presentation skills, business acumen, strategic and critical thinking.
- Ability to adapt selling approach; effective in a matrix environment.
- Preferred: sales success in relevant therapeutic areas; physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care or marketing experience.
- Preferred: in-depth scientific/therapeutic/product/competitive knowledge.
- Preferred: English proficiency verbally and in writing for non-English-speaking countries.
- Satisfy HCIR credentialing requirements to enter assigned facilities; includes possible background checks, drug screens, immunization/vaccination proof, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses.
- Valid driver’s license; ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and meet safe driving requirements.
