Role Summary

Specialty Representative, GIC - Hartford, CT. Execute brand strategy and tactics in field, drive sales performance, manage assigned territory and targeted accounts, build strong customer relationships, and solve customer needs to maximize short and long term sales performance, placing the patient at the center of efforts and operating within AbbVie’s code of conduct and applicable laws.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed those targets.
  • Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and perform post-call evaluation to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and close on sales calls.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market dynamics, and share market intelligence with in-field team, brand team, and sales management to optimize brand strategy and execution.
  • Differentiates AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant and equivalent industry experience required
  • In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, at least five (5) years of experience with three (3) or more years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry; high school diploma/GED required
  • Proactively identifies customer style/behavior and adapts selling approaches accordingly
  • Offers innovative ideas and solutions to maximize business opportunities; understands and leverages findings to develop sales strategies
  • Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and ability to operate in a matrix environment
  • Influences others and is a credible, respected resource; builds partnerships with district colleagues and matrix teams; leads by example
  • Documented leadership and increased responsibility at district/region/organizational levels
  • Preferred: proven sales performance in therapeutic areas; pharmaceutical industry experience such as physician/account-based selling, training, managed care or marketing
  • English language proficiency verbally and in writing (for non-English speaking countries)
  • Must satisfy all HCIR credentialing requirements to gain and maintain entry into facilities in the assigned territory; in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials
