Role Summary

Specialty Representative, Gastroenterology - Worcester, MA. Field-based sales role within the specified geography, focused on executing brand strategy and driving sales performance by managing territory and accounts, building strong customer relationships, and solving customer needs while adhering to all laws and AbbVie policies.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed objectives.
  • Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and perform post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and close on sales calls.
  • Serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that achieves metrics and optimizes coverage to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Build understanding of customer needs, territory dynamics, competitors, and market intelligence; share insights with in-field team, brand team, and sales manager to optimize strategy.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant and equivalent industry experience required.
  • In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, at least five (5) years of experience with three (3) or more years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry; high school diploma/GED required.
  • Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen; strategic and critical thinking; operates effectively in a matrix environment.
  • Proven track record in selling with solid presentation skills; adapts to customer style and behaviors; contributes ideas and adapts to changes.
  • Influences others; credible and respected resource; builds partnerships with district colleagues and matrix teams; practices positive behaviors and peer coaching.
  • Documented leadership and increased responsibility at district/region/organization level; uses findings to develop sales strategies.
  • Preferred: proven sales success in respective therapeutic areas; pharmaceutical industry experience in physician/account based selling, training, managed care or marketing; English proficiency.
  • Must satisfy HCIR credentialing requirements to access facilities and organizations in the territory; in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment drug screening; ability to drive personal auto or company vehicle.
