Role Summary

Specialty Representative, Gastroenterology- Tampa, FL. Field-based role covering a defined geography; talent hired at a level commensurate with experience. Primary focus is executing brand strategy and tactics in the field, achieving sales performance, and building strong customer relationships to maximize short and long-term sales while placing the patient at the center of efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed those objectives.
  • Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and close on sales calls.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements with customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan to achieve call metrics and optimize coverage and frequency with key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Share market intelligence on customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market dynamics, disease, product, and sales expertise with in-field teams to align and optimize brand strategy.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and develop disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant and equivalent industry experience required
  • Equivalent industry experience: at least five years overall, with three or more years in pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required
  • Demonstrates deep scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and strategic thinking; able to operate in a matrix environment
  • Proven sales success and strong presentation skills; ability to adapt to customer styles and respond to changes
  • Influences others and is considered a credible role model; builds collaborative partnerships within district and matrix teams
  • Documented leadership experience at district/region/organizational levels; uses findings to develop sales strategies
  • Preferred: proven sales success in therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing
  • English proficiency (verbal and written) for non-English speaking markets
  • Must satisfy health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements and maintain good standing to gain access to facilities; includes background checks, drug screens, immunizations, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment drug screening; ability to drive personal or company vehicle
