Role Summary

Specialty Representative, Gastroenterology - Springfield, IL. This field-based role covers Springfield and surrounding areas, with employment at a level commensurate with experience. The position focuses on executing brand strategy and tactics in the field, managing the assigned territory and targeted accounts, building strong customer relationships, and placing the patient at the center of AbbVie’s efforts while complying with all laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed them.
  • Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations to improve sales performance; handle objections and close on sales calls.
  • Pro actively serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements.
  • Develop and execute a call plan to achieve metrics and optimize coverage to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, and products; share market intelligence with in-field team, brand team, and sales manager to optimize strategy.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify/develop disease state experts and advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred or equivalent industry experience required
  • Equivalent experience: at least five (5) years in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, with three (3) or more years in pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required
  • In-depth scientific/therapeutic/product knowledge; strong business acumen; strategic and critical thinking; capable in a matrix environment; innovative problem-solving
  • Proven track record in selling and strong presentation skills; ability to adapt to customer style/behavior
  • Influences others and is a credible role model; builds collaborative partnerships; leads by example
  • Documented leadership and increased responsibility at district/region levels; can leverage findings to develop sales strategies
  • Preferred: proven sales success in relevant therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing; English proficiency
  • Must satisfy all HCIR credentialing requirements to enter facilities and organizations in the territory; must be in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials
  • HCIR requirements may include background checks, drug screens, immunizations, fingerprinting, and licenses; independent responsibility for satisfying requirements
