Role Summary

Field-based Specialty Representative, Gastroenterology covering San Diego, Temecula, Murrieta, Palm Springs and surrounding areas. This role executes brand strategy and tactics in the field, drives sales performance, and manages the assigned territory and targeted accounts. You will build strong customer relationships, address customer needs, and operate within AbbVie’s code of conduct, policies and all applicable laws and regulations, with the patient at the center of efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed those targets.
  • Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and perform post-call evaluations to continuously improve performance; handle objections and concerns to secure action on sales calls.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments and dynamics, accounts, disease state, product, clinical and sales expertise; share market intelligence with in-field team, brand team and sales manager to align and optimize brand strategy.
  • Differentiates AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify, develop and maintain disease-state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant and equivalent industry experience required.
  • Relevant and equivalent industry experience required in lieu of a bachelor’s degree is at least five (5) years of experience with three (3) or more years of experience within the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred and a high school diploma/GED required.
  • Proven track record of success in selling and strong presentation skills; proactively identifies customer style/behavior and adapts selling approach; offers innovative ideas and solutions to maximize business opportunities and address challenges; provides impact with ideas for the larger organization and responds to changes.
  • Influences others and is viewed as a credible and respected role model; builds collaborative partnerships with district colleagues and matrix teams; leads by example and coaches peers through changing environments.
  • Documented leadership and increasing responsibility at district, region and/or organizational levels; uses findings to develop sales strategies.
  • Preferred: proven success in sales performance within respective therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account based selling, training, managed health care or marketing preferred; English proficiency verbally and in writing.
  • Essential: meet HCIR credentialing requirements to gain/maintain entry into facilities and organizations in the assigned territory; must be in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
  • HCIR credentialing may include background checks, drug screens, immunizations, fingerprinting and licenses; you are responsible for satisfying all HCIR requirements.
  • Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen; proficient with business tools; strategic and critical thinking; operates effectively in a matrix environment.
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and meet safe driving requirements.
  • Ability to drive a personal or company vehicle.
