Role Summary
Director of Sales to lead revenue growth, market expansion, and product adoption across the Americas region (U.S. and Canada). This role is responsible for scaling the business, delivering agile, high-quality solutions, and establishing long-term client partnerships. Reporting to the SVP of Sales and Marketing, the Director will oversee a team of 9, serving as a player-coach to Business Development Managers, Inside Sales, and Field Application Scientists.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing sales team to exceed revenue targets and drive regional growth.
- Own and execute territory-level strategies, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Build and nurture strategic relationships with stakeholders in biomanufacturing, R&D, and diagnostics across the region.
- Navigate complex commercial agreements, including Material Supply Agreements, IP licensing, and contract negotiations.
- Maintain deep market knowledge of mRNA, enzymes, vaccines, cell and gene therapy, and gene editing through active participation in industry events.
- Provide accurate forecasting and pipeline management using Salesforce and other tools to support data-driven decision-making.
- Champion the Voice of Customer (VOC) to inform marketing strategies, product development, and sales enablement initiatives.
- Represent the company at conferences and symposia, delivering compelling presentations to expand brand and product awareness.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor's degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Genomics, Biochemistry, or related field with a minimum of 10 years' commercial experience in life sciences, biotechnology, or related sectors.
- Preferred: Advanced degree or business credentials with 8 years' experience in therapeutic startups.
- Required: Minimum of 5 years in sales leadership, business development, and strategic growth.
- Preferred: Global leadership experience.
- Required: Proven track record of exceeding sales targets, driving market expansion, and leading high-performing teams.
- Required: Strong understanding of molecular biology applications, biologics manufacturing, and cGMP principles.
- Required: Skilled in contract negotiation, strategic partnerships, and navigating complex commercial agreements, including IP licensing and supply contracts.
- Required: Proficient in Salesforce, MS Office, with strong analytical, organizational, and presentation skills.
- Required: Excellent interpersonal and strategic thinking abilities, with a collaborative and customer-focused mindset.
Additional Requirements
- Required: Travel up to 70% for customer engagements, conferences, and team development.
