Role Summary

Specialty Representative, Gastroenterology - San Diego, CA. Field-based role covering San Diego, Temecula, Murrieta, Palm Springs, and surrounding areas. Focus on executing brand strategy and tactics in the field, driving sales performance, managing territory and accounts, building strong customer relationships, and solving customer needs to maximize short and long-term sales while upholding AbbVie's code of conduct, policies, and applicable laws.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed set goals.
  • Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations to continuously improve performance; handle objections and guide calls to action to close sales.
  • Proactively address customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements with customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan to achieve metrics and optimize coverage and frequency with key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, diseases, products, clinical and sales knowledge; share market intelligence with in-field team, brand team, and sales manager to align and adapt strategy.
  • Differentiate AbbVie's value proposition with health providers and identify/develop disease-state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred or equivalent industry experience required.
  • Equivalent experience: at least five (5) years in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, with three (3) or more years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required.
  • Deep scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; recognized as an expert resource; strong business acumen and proficiency with business tools; strategic and critical thinking; effective in a matrix environment.
  • Proven track record in selling with strong presentation skills; ability to adapt to customer style/behavior and influence outcomes; proactive in generating impact and responding to changes.
  • Demonstrated leadership and the ability to support increased responsibilities at district/region levels; capability to develop sales strategies from findings.
  • Preferred: Proven sales success in respective therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed healthcare or marketing; English proficiency.
  • Must satisfy all applicable health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to access facilities and organizations in the territory; in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
  • HCIR credentialing may include background checks, drug screens, immunizations, fingerprinting, and state/city-specific licenses; individual is responsible for satisfying all requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen; ability to drive personal or company vehicle.

Education
