Role Summary

Specialty Representative, Gastroenterology – Providence, RI. Field-based role; candidates should live within a reasonable distance from the primary city. Talent will be hired at a level commensurate with experience. Geography covers Providence, Newport, New Bedford, Warwick, Braintree, MA, Brockton, MA.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed these objectives.
  • Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and perform post-call evaluations to continually improve sales performance; handle objections and close on sales calls.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan to achieve set metrics and optimize coverage and frequency with key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Gather and share market intelligence on customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease states, and products with in-field team, brand team, and sales manager to align and optimize strategy.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred or relevant equivalent experience; high school diploma/GED required with at least five years of relevant industry experience (three years in pharma/health/science preferred).
  • Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen; ability to operate in a matrix environment; strategic and critical thinking capabilities.
  • Proven track record in sales with strong presentation skills; ability to adapt selling style to customer behavior; contributes ideas to the larger organization and responds to changes.
  • Influences others and is viewed as a credible role model; builds collaborative partnerships within the district and matrix teams; leads by example.
  • Documented leadership experience and ability to develop sales strategies; preferred: sales success in relevant therapeutic areas or pharma experiences such as physician/account-based selling, training, managed care, or marketing; English proficiency verbally and in writing.
  • Must satisfy all health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to gain/maintain access to facilities within the territory; in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment drug screening; ability to drive personal or company vehicle.

Additional Requirements

  • Health care industry credentialing requirements (HCIR) to access facilities in the territory; background checks, drug screens, immunization proof, fingerprinting, licenses as required by state/city; responsibility to satisfy all HCIR requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving requirements; ability to drive a personal or company vehicle.
