Role Summary

Specialty Representative, Gastroenterology – Philadelphia E, PA. Responsible for executing brand strategy and tactics in the field, managing the assigned territory and targeted accounts, building strong customer relationships, and solving customer needs to maximize short and long-term sales performance while operating within AbbVie’s code of conduct and applicable laws.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed commitments.
  • Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and perform post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and close on sales calls.
  • Proactively address customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements.
  • Develop and execute a call plan with metrics to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease area, product, clinical and sales expertise; share market intelligence with in-field and brand teams to optimize strategy.
  • Differentiates AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify and maintain disease-state experts and advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred, or relevant equivalent industry experience; high school diploma/GED required (minimum).
  • At least five years of industry experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, with three or more years in pharmaceutical/health/science; additional relevant experience preferred.
  • In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen; ability to operate in a matrix environment; strategic and critical thinking.
  • Proven selling success and strong presentation skills; ability to adapt selling approach to customer style; proactive in providing ideas and responding to changes.
  • Influences others and is viewed as a credible, collaborative role model; capable of leading by example and coaching peers.
  • Track record of leadership and increased responsibility; able to leverage findings to develop sales strategies.
  • Preferred: success in sales within relevant therapeutic areas; pharmaceutical industry experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed care, or marketing; English proficiency in writing and speaking.
  • Must satisfy all applicable HCIR credentialing requirements to access facilities; in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment drug screening; able to drive personal or company vehicle.

Education

Additional Requirements

  • Health care industry representative credentialing (HCIR) requirements for access to facilities.
  • Background checks, drug screening, immunizations/vaccinations, fingerprinting, and state/city-specific licenses as applicable.
  • Field-based role; candidate must reside within a reasonable distance of the primary city (Philadelphia and surrounding areas).
