Role Summary

Specialty Representative, Gastroenterology - New Haven, CT. This is a field-based role serving New Haven and surrounding geography. Talent will be hired at a level commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, marketing objectives, etc. to meet or exceed objectives.
  • Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and perform post-call evaluation to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and close on calls.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set metrics and optimizes coverage to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, disease states, product, clinical and sales expertise; share market intelligence with in-field team and brand team to optimize strategy.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant and equivalent industry experience required
  • Equivalent industry experience: at least five (5) years total; three (3)+ years in pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required
  • In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen; operates effectively in a matrix environment; strategic and critical thinking
  • Proven track record in selling; strong presentation skills; ability to adapt to customer style and respond to changes
  • Influences others; credible and respected; collaboration with district colleagues and matrix team; leadership in challenging environments
  • Leadership experience at district/region levels; ability to leverage findings to develop sales strategies
  • Preferred: proven sales success in therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account based selling, training, managed care or marketing; English proficiency
  • Must satisfy HCIR credentialing requirements to gain access to facilities; in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to pass pre-employment drug screening; safe driving
