Role Summary

Specialty Representative, Gastroenterology - New Brunswick, NJ. Field-based role covering New Brunswick and the northern Jersey shore. Role involves executing brand strategy and tactics in the field, managing territory and targeted accounts, building strong customer relationships, and solving customer needs to maximize short and long-term sales while complying with all laws and AbbVie policies.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed goals.
  • Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and perform post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and close on sales calls.
  • Proactively address customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements with customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan to achieve metrics and optimize coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Gather and share market intelligence on customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, and product/clinical knowledge with in-field and brand teams to align and optimize brand strategy.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and develop disease state experts and advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred or equivalent industry experience required
  • At least five years of relevant industry experience if no bachelor’s degree, with three or more years in pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required
  • In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and strategic thinking; ability to operate in a matrix environment
  • Proven sales success and strong presentation skills; ability to adapt to customer styles and changing environments
  • Influences others and is considered a credible, respected resource; fosters collaboration with district colleagues and matrix teams
  • Leadership experience at district/region levels and ability to leverage findings to develop sales strategies
  • Preferred: success in sales within relevant therapeutic areas; pharmaceutical industry experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed care, or marketing; English proficiency
  • Must satisfy health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to gain access to facilities; must be in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment drug screening; capable of driving personal or company vehicle
