Role Summary

Specialty Representative, Gastroenterology - Nashville N, TN. Execute brand strategy and tactics in field, drive sales performance, effectively manage assigned territory and targeted accounts, build strong customer relationships and customer needs solving capability to maximize short and long term sales performance while placing the patient at the center and operating within AbbVie’s code of conduct and all applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed targets.
  • Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and perform post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and concerns to close on sales calls.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that achieves metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market dynamics, accounts, and disease and product knowledge; share market intelligence with in-field and brand teams to align and optimize strategy.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify and maintain disease state experts and advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or equivalent industry experience required
  • Equivalent experience: at least five (5) years in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, with three (3)+ years in pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required
  • Deep scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and proficiency with business tools; strategic and critical thinking; operates effectively in a matrix environment
  • Proven track record in selling with strong presentation skills; adapts selling approach to customer style; anticipates and responds to changes
  • Influences others and is a credible, respected role model; builds collaborative partnerships across districts and matrix teams; demonstrates positive behaviors
  • Documented leadership and increased responsibility at district/region/organizational levels; uses findings to develop sales strategies
  • Preferred: proven sales success within therapeutic areas; pharmaceutical industry experience such as physician/account based selling, training, managed care or marketing
  • English proficiency verbally and in writing for non-English speaking markets
  • Must satisfy all applicable HCIR credentialing requirements to gain access to facilities; must be in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to pass pre-employment drug screening; drive personal or company vehicle
