Role Summary

This field-based Specialty Representative, Gastroenterology role covers Morristown, NJ and surrounding areas. The role focuses on executing brand strategy and tactics in the field, driving sales performance, and building strong customer relationships to maximize short and long-term sales performance with patients at the center, in compliance with applicable laws and AbbVie policies.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed goals.
  • Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations to continuously improve performance; handle objections and close on sales calls.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
  • Develop and execute call plans to achieve metrics and optimize coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease state, product, clinical and sales expertise; share market intelligence with in-field team, brand team, and sales manager to align and optimize brand strategy.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify and maintain disease state experts and speakers to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred, or equivalent industry experience required.
  • Five (5) years of relevant industry experience, with three (3)+ years in pharmaceutical/health/science preferred; high school diploma/GED required if degree is not held.
  • In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and strategic thinking; ability to operate in a matrix environment; innovative problem-solving skills.
  • Proven selling and presentation skills; ability to adapt to customer style/behavior and influence stakeholders; capable of leading by example and coaching peers.
  • Historical leadership and increased responsibility at district/region levels; ability to develop sales strategies from findings.
  • Preferred: sales success in respective therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed care, or marketing; English proficiency in speaking and writing.
  • Must meet HCIR credentialing requirements to access facilities and organizations in the territory; must be in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment drug screening; ability to drive a personal or company vehicle.
