Role Summary

Specialty Representative, Gastroenterology - Morristown, NJ. Field-based role covering Morristown, Princeton, and surrounding areas. Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field to maximize short and long-term sales performance, focusing on patient-centered outcomes and compliance with all laws and AbbVie policies.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed targets.
  • Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and perform post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and secure actions to close calls.
  • Serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
  • Develop and execute call plans to achieve metrics and optimize coverage and frequency with key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease states, product, clinical and sales expertise; share insights with in-field team, brand team and sales manager.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant and equivalent industry experience required
  • Equivalent experience: five (5) years overall with three (3) or more years in pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required
  • In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen; strategic and critical thinking; ability to operate in a matrix environment
  • Proven sales success and strong presentation skills; ability to adapt to customer style and anticipate changes
  • Influences others and is viewed as a credible resource; builds collaborative partnerships within the district and matrix teams
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to take on increased responsibility at district/region levels
  • Preferred: proven sales success in relevant therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed healthcare or marketing; English proficiency
  • Must satisfy all HCIR credentialing requirements to gain/maintain entry into facilities in the territory; in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment drug screen; ability to drive personal or company vehicle
