Role Summary

Specialty Representative, Gastroenterology - Memphis, Tennessee. Field-based role serving the Memphis and surrounding areas, focusing on executing brand strategy and tactics, managing territory and key accounts, and placing the patient at the center of efforts in compliance with laws and AbbVie policies.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed targets.
  • Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and perform post-call evaluations to improve sales performance; handle objections and close on sales calls.
  • Serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements with customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan to optimize coverage and frequency with key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Continuously build understanding of customer needs, market landscape, competitors, and product knowledge; share market intelligence with in-field and brand teams to align and optimize strategy.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify disease state experts and advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant and equivalent industry experience required
  • Equivalency: at least five (5) years of experience if no bachelor’s degree, with three (3) or more years in pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required
  • Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen; ability to operate in a matrix environment; strategic and critical thinking
  • Proven track record in selling and presentation; adapt selling approach to customer styles; provide impactful ideas for the organization
  • Influences others, builds collaborative partnerships, leads by example, and coaches peers in changing environments
  • Documented leadership and increasing responsibility at district/region levels; uses findings to develop sales strategies
  • Preferred: proven sales success in respective therapeutic areas; experience with physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care or marketing
  • English proficiency (verbal and written) for non-English speaking countries
  • Must satisfy all HCIR credentialing requirements to gain entry into facilities and organizations in the assigned territory; maintain good standing and eligibility for credentials
  • HCIR requirements may include background checks, drug screens, immunizations, fingerprinting, and licenses; you are responsible for satisfying all requirements
