Role Summary

Specialty Representative, Gastroenterology - Manhattan N, NY. Execute brand strategy and tactics in field, drive sales performance, manage assigned territory and targeted accounts, build strong customer relationships, and solve customer needs to maximize short- and long-term sales, placing the patient at the center and operating within company policies and all applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed targets.
  • Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and close on sales calls.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory market landscape, competitors, and market segments; share market intelligence with in-field team, brand team, and sales manager to align and optimize brand strategy.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant and equivalent industry experience required
  • Equivalent experience: at least five years in total with three or more years in pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required
  • In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen; able to operate effectively in a matrix environment; proactive in offering innovative ideas and solutions
  • Proven track record of selling success and strong presentation skills; ability to adapt to customer style and behavior; anticipates and responds to changes
  • Influences others and is a credible, respected role model; builds collaborative partnerships; leads by example
  • Documented leadership and increased responsibility at district/region levels; uses findings to develop sales strategies
  • Preferred: proven sales performance in relevant therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing; English proficiency
  • Must satisfy all HCIR credentialing requirements to gain and maintain entry into facilities and organizations in the territory; in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment drug screening; may require driving personal or company vehicle
