Role Summary

Specialty Representative, Gastroenterology - Huntington Beach, CA. Field-based role covering Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Riverside, Irvine, Anaheim, San Clemente, Fullerton and surrounding areas. Responsible for executing brand strategy and tactics in the field, managing the assigned territory and targeted accounts, building strong customer relationships, and solving customer needs to maximize short and long-term sales performance, while adhering to AbbVie’s code of conduct and all applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed goals.
  • Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations to continuously improve performance; handle objections and move calls to action to close sales.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements.
  • Develop and execute call plans to achieve metrics and optimize coverage and frequency with key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease state, product, clinical and sales expertise; share market intelligence with in-field and brand teams to align and optimize strategy.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred or relevant equivalent experience.
  • At least five years of industry experience if no bachelor’s degree, with three or more years in pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required.
  • Demonstrates deep scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen; effective in a matrix environment; innovative problem-solving to maximize opportunities.
  • Proven track record in selling and presentation skills; ability to identify customer style/behavior and adapt selling approach; proactive and responsive to changes.
  • Influences others and is viewed as a credible, collaborative resource; leads by example and coaches peers through changing environments.
  • Documented leadership experience at district/region/organizational levels; uses findings to inform sales strategies.
  • Preferred: sales success in respective therapeutic areas; pharmaceutical industry experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care or marketing; English proficiency.
  • Must satisfy HCIR credentialing requirements to gain entry into facilities; must be in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment drug screening; ability to drive personal or company vehicle.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or related field preferred, or equivalent industry experience.
