Role Summary

Specialty Representative, Gastroenterology - Fairfax, VA. Execute brand strategy and tactics in field, drive sales performance, manage assigned territory and targeted accounts, build strong customer relationships, and solve customer needs to maximize short and long term sales while placing the patient at the center of efforts and operating within AbbVie’s code of conduct and applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed targets.
  • Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and close on calls.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements.
  • Develop and execute a call plan to achieve metrics and optimize coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Share market intelligence on customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease state, product, clinical and sales insights with in-field teams and brand management to align and optimize strategy and execution.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and develop disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or equivalent industry experience required.
  • Equivalent experience: at least five (5) years in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, with three (3) or more years in pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required.
  • Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen; strategic and critical thinking; operates effectively in a matrix environment; able to propose innovative ideas to maximize opportunities.
  • Proven track record in selling with solid presentation skills; adapts selling approach to customer style; provides impactful ideas for the organization and responds to changes.
  • Influences others, is a credible resource, and builds collaborative partnerships; leads by example and coaches peers through change.
  • Documented leadership experience and ability to develop sales strategies from district to regional levels.
  • Preferred: Proven sales success in therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing; English proficiency in speaking and writing.
  • Must satisfy HCIR credentialing requirements to gain/maintain entry into facilities; in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
  • Background checks, drug screens, immunization/vaccination proof, fingerprinting, licenses as required by state/city; candidate responsible for satisfying all requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment drug screening; able to drive personal or company vehicle.

Education
