Role Summary

Specialty Representative, Gastroenterology - Columbia, SC. Field-based role serving within the geographic region, with compensation commensurate with experience. Requires proximity to the primary city and travel within the territory to meet objectives and optimize patient access.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed targets.
  • Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and perform post-call evaluations to continuously improve performance; handle objections and drive action on sales calls.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win outcomes for AbbVie and customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan to achieve metrics, optimize coverage and frequency to key customers, and maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, and market dynamics; share intelligence with in-field and brand teams to align and optimize strategy.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and develop disease-state experts and advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or equivalent industry experience required
  • Equivalent experience: at least five (5) years in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, with three (3)+ years in pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required
  • In-depth scientific and therapeutic knowledge; strong business acumen; ability to operate in a matrix environment; strategic and critical thinking
  • Proven sales success and strong presentation skills; ability to adapt to customer style and drive impact
  • Influences others effectively; credible role model; fosters collaboration across districts and matrix teams
  • Demonstrated leadership and increasing responsibility at district/region/organizational levels
  • Preferred: track record in sales within therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed care, or marketing
  • English language proficiency (verbal and written) for non-English-speaking regions
  • Must satisfy all applicable HCIR credentialing requirements to enter facilities and maintain eligibility
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to pass pre-employment drug screening; ability to drive personal or company vehicle
