Role Summary

Specialty Representative, Gastroenterology - Chicago, North. Field-based role serving Chicago and surrounding areas, focusing on executing brand strategy, maximizing sales performance, and placing the patient at the center of AbbVie’s efforts within applicable laws and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed set objectives.
  • Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations to improve sales performance; handle objections and close on sales calls.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements with customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan to optimize coverage and frequency for key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Gather and share market intelligence on customer needs, market landscape, competitors, and disease/product knowledge to align with in-field and brand teams and adapt brand strategy as needed.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify/develop disease state experts and speakers to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or equivalent industry experience required
  • At least five years of relevant industry experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, with three or more years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required
  • In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen; strategic and critical thinking; effective in a matrix environment
  • Proven sales success and strong presentation skills; ability to adapt selling approach to customer style
  • Influential and credible; strong collaboration with district and matrix teams; positive leadership and coaching
  • Documented leadership experience at district/region/organizational levels; ability to develop sales strategies from findings
  • Preferred: proven sales success in the therapeutic area; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing; English proficiency
  • Must satisfy all applicable HCIR credentialing requirements to enter facilities/organizations in the territory; in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials
