Role Summary

Specialty Representative, Gastroenterology - Charleston, WV. Field-based role responsible for executing brand strategy and tactics in the assigned territory, driving sales performance, and building strong customer relationships to place the patient at the center of AbbVie’s efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed those targets.
  • Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and perform post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and close on calls.
  • Proactively address customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements with customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan to maximize access and sales opportunities by optimizing coverage and frequency to key customers.
  • Gather and share market intelligence on customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, disease states, product, clinical and sales insights to align with in-field teams and brand planning.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify and develop disease state experts and advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or equivalent industry experience required
  • Equivalent industry experience: at least five (5) years total with three (3) or more years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required
  • In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen; ability to operate in a matrix environment; strategic and critical thinking
  • Proven sales success and strong presentation skills; ability to adapt selling approach to customer style
  • Influences others; credible role model; collaborative with district colleagues and matrix teams
  • Documented leadership and increased responsibility at district/region levels; ability to leverage findings to develop sales strategies
  • Preferred: proven sales success in respective therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed care or marketing; English proficiency
  • Must satisfy HCIR credentialing requirements to enter facilities and organizations in the territory; in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to pass pre-employment drug screening; safe driving requirements

Education
