Role Summary

Specialty Representative, Gastroenterology- Baltimore, MD. Field-based role covering Baltimore, MD and surrounding areas. Role is aligned to execute brand strategy, drive field-based sales performance, and build strong customer relationships with a patient-centric approach.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed targets.
  • Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and perform post-call evaluations to continually improve sales performance; handle objections and lead calls to action.
  • Serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
  • Develop and execute call plans to optimize coverage and frequency with key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, accounts, disease areas, and product knowledge; share market intelligence with in-field and brand teams to align and optimize strategy.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with healthcare providers and identify disease-state experts and advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or equivalent industry experience required
  • Equivalent experience: at least five (5) years in lieu of a bachelor’s, with three (3)+ years in pharmaceutical/health/science; high school diploma/GED required
  • Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen; ability to operate in a matrix environment; strategic and critical thinking
  • Proven track record in selling and strong presentation skills; adapts to customer style and anticipates changes
  • Influences others, builds collaborative partnerships, and demonstrates leadership and coaching in dynamic environments
  • Leadership experience at district/region levels and ability to leverage findings to develop sales strategies
  • Preferred: proven sales success in relevant therapeutic areas; pharmaceutical industry experience in physician/account selling, training, managed care, or marketing
  • English proficiency (verbal and written) for all non-English speaking markets
  • Must satisfy HCIR credentialing requirements; in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and meet safe driving requirements
  • Ability to drive personal or company vehicle; may involve handling equipment as needed
